ELAG 2004 - Interoperability: new challenges and solutions: 28th Library System Seminar

ELAG, the European Library Automation Group, brings together once a year people involved in library automation in the leading European libraries and information centres. The organization counts 450 members in 27 countries all over Europe. The meetings aim at in depth discussions of particular library automation topics and at the promotion of informal exchange of ideas and experience. The topics covered are technical and meant for participants with a computing background.

This annual event is organised by LIBER, League of European Research Libraries, the principal association of the major research libraries in Europe. ECDL 2004 is the 8th in the series of European Digital Library Conferences. ECDL has become the major European forum focusing on digital libraries and associated technical, organisational and social issues. Digital library research brings together a number of disciplines and practitioner communities, creating a stimulating environment for debate and an opportunity for establishing collaboration. ECDL provides a forum for the exchange of ideas between scientific disciplines and fosters joint initiatives with application communities. Involvement of researchers and practitioners from computing and information science disciplines is well established at ECDL.

King's College London and OCLC-PICA are pleased to announce the first Digital Futures Academy, a five day intensive training and seminar content for managers and other practitioners from the library, museum, heritage and cultural sectors. Over the last 10 years, libraries have established a significant presence on the Web, and have developed new methods for delivering expanded and innovative services using new technologies. Over the next decade, libraries will continue to expand their reach, redefine their roles, and face emerging issues that are radically different from traditional library issues of the past. The Forum Committee is particularly interested in presentations that highlight specific technology implementations in any type of library.

Nel ottobre 2003, il progetto IOSSPL, realizzato da CONTACT NET (ROMANIA) ha vinto un
concorso internazionale organizzato dal Governo Italiano - Il Ministero delle Attivita' Produttive, in base alla
Legge 212/1992.
Il lancio ufficiale del progetto e' stato annunciato il 1 giugno 2004.
Il MINISTERO delle ATTIVITA’ PRODUTTIVE Direzione Generale per la Promozione degli Scambi - Divisione IV – ROMA, ha approvato il progetto IOSSPL (cod. 212/03/ROM15) a valere sulla Legge 212/92 D.M. n. 171 del 19/04/2001, con Decreto del Ministero delle Attività Produttive del 29/12/2004.
